# Becki Brainstorm

Turn an idea into an agreed design before anyone writes code. The agent
is the intelligence; Becki is the memory. Query first so you do not
re-propose a dead end. Capture the choice when the user picks a path.

## The gate

Do not implement, scaffold, or load an implementation skill until you have
said what you intend and the user has approved it. The artifact scales
with the task. The approval does not.

## Classify out loud

Say the class before the first question so the user can override it.

- **Spike:** a feasibility question. Output is an answer, not kept code.
Two or three sentences of intent, a nod, then the cheapest honest check.
Label anything you built as throwaway.
- **Bounded:** a well-scoped change to a flow that already exists in this
repo. You can open the current path and name the files. Short design in
  chat. Stop until yes.
- **Architectural:** a new subsystem, a new project, or a change to how
pieces fit. Questions, options, a sectioned design, then `becki-plan`.

When in doubt, take the heavier class. Hidden complexity upgrades the
class mid-task: stop, say so, step up. Nothing downgrades mid-task.

Bounded measures the repo, not your familiarity. A new project with no
existing flow is architectural.

## Before you design

1. Call `becki_check_dead_ends` with the user's request verbatim.
2. Call `becki_context` for the project if this is not a trivial spike.
3. Ask only the questions that change the design.

## After they pick

If a real direction settled, use `becki-decide`. Do not wait for session
end. A spike that stays a spike needs no decision row.

## Red flags

| Thought | Reality |
|---|---|
| This is too simple to design | Simple means a short design, not no design. |
| I will start while they read it | The gate is the yes, not the length. |
| I know this kind of app, so it is bounded | Bounded is a file you can open, not a vibe. |
| The spike worked, I will keep the code | Keeping it is a new request. Re-classify. |
| We already decided this last month | Query. It may have been superseded. |
